VACANCY: Senior Media Planner and Buyer

As a Senior Media Planner and Buyer, you will be pin pointing which media platforms best advertise clients brand or product to their right audience, at the right time. You’ll use your creative thinking and commercial flair to develop successful media marketing strategies, being vital in helping clients achieve their business, marketing and communication objectives. You’ll be an expert in integrated media planning and your head will be filled of knowledge about the UK Marketing and Media landscape. You’ll also be a strong champion of others, lending your knowledge and support to help take the team to the next level.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Understanding marketing objectives and strategies, the consumer to product relationship, creative strategy and consumer to media relationship
  • Interpreting client’s marketing problems and redefining them in a way that uniquely positions media as a solution
  • Assisting in developing budget allocations across media and media mix scenarios
  • Selecting media channels and platforms for an advertiser, helping reach target audience at the right time, with the right message
  • Creating media plans and buying media across a variety of different media channels such as TV, OOH, newspapers, magazines, radio, cinema, music streaming services & social media to name a few
  • Creating communication planning models for clients, thinking beyond just media channels, and taking a wider focus, covering all communication opportunities which a brand might have
  • Maintaining campaigns, making sure the quality doesn’t slip and adheres to overall media plan objectives
  • Analysing the effectiveness of media campaigns, identifying whether activity has the desired result and to influence future planning and justify future investment
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with all media owners and keeping an eye on marketing conditions
  • Keeping your head in the game with the latest marketing and media planning and buying information and using this to implement new ways of working
  • Driving internal thought leadership and team process/workflow enhancement, increasing the quality of work
  • Continuously improving the quality and clarity of all media planning deliverables, using internal and external relationships to identify new opportunities
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders on the ongoing successful running of client accounts
  • Developing strong commercial acumen, energising and inspiring the team to deliver innovation and great thinking for clients
  • Contributing to the development of tools, approaches and training to help steer the progression of the team
  • Understanding organisational context and goals, elevating the status of the Media team at S3 both internally and externally
  • Championing the Media Planner and Buyer, offering support and mentorship with their workload and day to day responsibilities

You’ll have:

  • Previous experience working as a Senior Media Planner and Buyer or similar role
  • Previous experience in brand and performance planning
  • A strategic head, accessing the impact of media on business goals
  • A good understanding of the changing communication landscape
  • An analytical mind with the ability to translate business and marketing KPIs to media KPIs and media strategy into media plans
  • Strong public speaking skills and excellent written ability
  • Ability to keep your cool under pressure and juggle a high volume workload while still making effective decisions
